The course, originally designed by the late Len Keating, is designed to be completed in 15 weeks. Week 16 is set aside for the students and tutor to have a social get-together, ideally at the home or in the community of the tutor. May this be the start of many friendships!

Each student also receives a CD in week 3, the cost of which is included in the total amount.
Sometimes it is more convenient for students to have an Online lesson from the comfort of their home. We've partnered with SkillUp Tutors to offer face-to-face online lessons with your personal tutor.

The online lessons aim to be just as effective as the in-person lessons. They use a skype-type system to allow a student and tutor to see and speak with one-another. There is also the added benefit of you both being able to write during the lesson.
You will need a reliable internet connection, a quiet place and a laptop with a webcam. It is also recommended to use some earphones if you have.
Head over to the "sign up as a tutor" page and fill out your name, email address and password. These are your login details. From here you will be directed to your own home page where you will be required to complete your profile.
Completing your profile is easily done once you have created a profile here. There are five main sections you will have to complete before becoming a tutor:
Including your address, phone number, and telling us a bit about yourself.
Uploading of your ID document, Work Permit (if applicable), CV, Matric-certificate (if you have one) and Safety Clearance.
Specify what language you want to tutor (isiXhosa or isiZulu).
Complete your calendar showing your availability.
Once you have submitted your application, you will be contacted by an Imbeko staff member and will go through our training process before being listed as one of our tutors.

Students each pay between R1 600 and R3 000 for the course, depending on group size. After our service costs, banking fees, manual and cd costs are deducted, tutors will earn between R150 and R720 per session, depending on the size of the group. The higher you are rated by your students, the more likely you are to get more bookings!
You will be paid out every Wednesday for the previous week's lessons
